In today’s fast-paced business environment, manufacturing facilities require physical security measures that are comprehensive and flexible. While the assets needing protection and potential risks to those assets will drive recommended security solutions, security measures at any location must be adaptable to shifting corporate priorities. The selected strategy must be responsive enough to mitigate new threats and sufficiently nimble to pivot to provide safety from new risk exposures. Limits of current physical security capabilities at the site, added with the need to provide cost-effective solutions, can prove challenging to any facility or security leader.

Securitas Security Services USA, Inc., the U.S. leader in protective services, recently partnered with several manufacturing companies to implement a quick, cost-effective solution to enhance the overall security posture at their locations. These companies wanted to address an increase in theft, vandalism, and vagrancy on areas of their property that were not adequately covered by existing camera coverage or security officer patrols. Other locations were very remote with potential IT restrictions that prohibited the usage of internal security cameras.

RGWatch and RGGo are two options from Securitas USA that offer affordable video solutions with live view analytics that can be installed and be fully operational in a matter of days. This flexible and quickly deployable camera system is paired with off-site Securitas USA remote guarding and mobile guarding monitoring.

This type of cost-effective solution is ideal for a wide range of applications including construction areas, parking lots, asset storage sites, remote locations, and places that have seen a recent uptick in theft or vandalism.

After an initial assessment to ensure 110V power availability and an appropriate LTE connection, a Securitas USA mobile guarding officer can install battery-powered, wire-free cameras in strategic locations on the property. Highly trained remote guarding officers at the Securitas Operations Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, use live view capabilities to provide proactive, real-time patrols, perimeter protection, employee escorts, and alarm verification. Video analytics facilitate remote perimeter protection by alerting remote guarding officers to potentially unwanted persons or vehicles. The situation can then be investigated and escalated as appropriate.

If there is no threat, the remote guarding officer will record the event so the site remains secure with minimal disruption to business. If a threat is verified, a mobile officer can be dispatched, or local authorities contacted, as per directive. The mobile guarding officer remains in contact with remote guarding while inspecting the site and can enact the appropriate level of response, such as dispatching the police or other emergency personnel.

“Securitas USA is committed to delivering remote guarding services efficiently and effectively to any manufacturing business. In addition to RGWatch and RGGo, our newest solution, RGConnect, can leverage the existing security cameras that are already at the site by either replacing the current NVR or installing them in parallel”

Securitas USA is committed to delivering remote guarding services efficiently and effectively to any manufacturing business. In addition to RGWatch and RGGo, our newest solution, RGConnect, can leverage the existing security cameras that are already at the site by either replacing the current NVR or installing them in parallel. The portions of the site that are identified as critical can now be connected to the Securitas Operation Center to benefit from remote guarding services.

In the rapidly changing and often uncertain security environment, facility and security leaders need not feel daunted by the challenges presented by remote or expansive sites not adequately covered by existing camera systems. Technology has evolved to enable flexible solutions that are easily installed and cost-effective. In addition to traditional on-site guarding services, these remote guarding solutions complement almost any dynamic situation.
